From the second I walked the atmosphere in The Renegade was warm and welcoming. Team members were clearly excited about both the food and the music program. The friend I was meeting for happy hour had been there before and suggested the red curried collard greens. While all the food we tried, Korean chicken, lamb, carrots and the greens, were excellent, the collard greens were the standout dish. I likely wouldn’t have ordered them based on the name but will be making the trip back to Clarendon for those alone. As my friend said, these are the best $5 you can spend on food in DC. Bottom line—go food the red curried collard greens and stay for the wonderful team, atmosphere, and live music.

Wow. What an amazing place. Only had some bar food but it was excellent. I use to come here when it was Mr. Days and they did a fantastic job of cleaning it up and renovating. They have bands and DJs, which is a nice mix of music. We will be back soon.

Been here about 5x now, and it’s a gem. I know it from following the owner from his previous Arlington ventures over the past 25+ years. The Renegade allows him to shine as only he can. The food will surprise new patrons who aren’t expecting this level of dining at a ‘bar’. Definitely a Clarendon spot to visit.

This place is really worth trying! I went for happy hour with a friend. Their drink prices are a good deal and the bartender was friendly and provided great service. The chef and owner came by to talk to us and recommended some food options. We had the cumin cauliflower, the yucca fries, collard greens and falafel. Everything was flavorful and extremely reasonably priced, especially compared to other Clarendon spots. You can tell a lot of thought and love went into the menu. I will definitely be a returning customer!

You can’t go wrong with anything on the menu at renegade. I’ve tried about ten dishes by now and every single one has been so delicious! Lo mein, lemongrass beef, the soup, the Korean chicken! I went for morning coffee, then went back for lunch, and was very tempted to go back for dinner....
Not to mention, I’m super pumped about having a live music venue back in Clarendon!

We came for happy hour drinks and ended up staying for a fabulous array of small plates. We had the Korean chicken, the Malaysian chicken satay, the red curried collard greens, the cumin crusted cauliflower, the harissa chicken, and the black pepper crusted tuna. All of these were really well prepared and quite satisfying. I liked my beers and the girls said the wine selection was really good for a non-wine bar. Pamela particularly liked her Grenache. We left feeling pretty stoked about the new place and we plan on coming back. A special shout out has to be given to Sean and Dylan behind the bar, they were really great and gave us some tips on the food to order.

We wandered into The Renegade for a late Saturday lunch after seeing the menu, not expecting that we’d end up talking to owner/chef Patrick Crump at length about his favorite foods and styles of preparation, as well as the Arlington food scene. The menu is eclectic, because as Patrick told us, he was serving up what he enjoyed eating. Everything we tried, including a Korean chicken bowl, lemongrass beef skewers, grilled cauliflower, shawarma pita, and Thai curry collard greens, was excellent. And we immensely enjoyed the conversation with Patrick as well as with Todd behind the bar. We couldn’t leave without picking up some piping hot Stumptown coffee at Renegade’s standalone coffee bar. We’ll absolutely be back for another meal and for one of the upcoming evening concerts.
